Airports

Toronto is served by two airports. Pearson International Airport is the main airport and all long haul flights arrive there. The Toronto City Centre Airport serves regional flights from Eastern Canada and the US Northeast provided by Porter Airlines.

Arriving at Pearson International Airport

  • Getting downtown by taxi: Only taxis with a special permit can pickup passengers at Pearson Airport. Follow the signs to get a taxi. A taxi ride to downtown costs approx. $50.
  • Getting downtown by Shuttle Bus: Pacific Western Airport Express provides a comfortable shuttle bus service to many downtown hotels including the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. One way fare is $19.95 and round trip fare is $32.95. At Terminal 1, their Customer Service booth is located on the Arrivals Level Curbside Post C and the bus departs from Posts B and E. At Terminal 3 their Customer Service is located on the Arrivals Level Curbside at Area # 25.
  • Getting downtown by Public Transit (approx. 1 hour): Follow the signs to the Public Transit, Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) stop at either Terminal 3 (Arrivals Level) or Terminal 1 (Ground Level). Take the 192 Airport Rocket bus to the Kipling subway station. Then take the subway downtown. To get to the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, take the Bloor-Danforth subway line to St. George station, then change to the Yonge-University-Spadina line direction Finch and get off at Osgoode station. The hotel is 100m east from the exit along Queen St. One way fare is $3; exact change is required.

    Getting to Ryerson University Residences: From Kipling station, take the Bloor-Danforth subway line to Bloor-Yonge station, and then change to the Yonge-University-Spadina line direction Downsview and get off at the Dundas station. Then walk North on Yonge St. and then East on Gould St. until you arrive at Mutual St. (10 min.). The International Living/Learning Centre is at 133 Mutual Street and Pitman Hall is at 160 Mutual Street.

    Getting to the Sutton Place Hotel (where KR and ICAPS are held): From Kipling station, take the Bloor-Danforth subway line to the Bay station. Then walk South on Bay St. (10 min.); the Sutton Place Hotel is at 955 Bay St.

Arriving at Toronto City Centre Airport

Take the free ferry boat to the mainland and then take a taxi or the complimentary Porter Airline shuttle bus, which runs to and from the west entrance of the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, at the north-east corner of Front and York streets, just across from Union Station. To get to the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel from there, walk North on York St. (10 min.); you can also take the subway to Osgoode Station.

Arriving by Train

VIA Rail and AMTRAK passenger trains arrive at Union Station at the corner of Front and York streets. To get to the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel from there, walk North on York St. (10 min.); you can also take the subway to Osgoode Station.

Arriving by Intercity Bus

Intercity Buses arrive at Toronto Coach Terminal at 610 Bay St. To get to the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel from there, walk South on Bay St. (10 min.).

AAMAS Venue

The AAMAS 2010 venue is the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel located at 123 Queen St. W., tel. 416-361-1000.

Public Transit

Toronto has very extensive public transit system, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), with subways, buses and streetcars, that make it easy to get around the city. When using the TTC a single fare will take you anywhere in the city on a one way trip. You can freely transfer between subway, streetcar and bus, but make sure you obtain a transfer when and where you pay your fare. On buses and streetcars, exact change is required. Day passes and weekly passes are also available. The Osgoode subway station (at the corner of Queen St. and University Ave.) is only a few steps from the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel.

PATH Underground Walkway

PATH is a 27km network of underground walkways and shopping concourses under downtown Toronto. The Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel connects to PATH at the Concourse Level.

Taxis

There are many taxi companies. Fares are standard, metered and non-negotiable. The driver will start the meter when you get on board. It is customary to leave a 10-15% tip when service is good. Here are some numbers to call:

In Toronto, the mid-May average maximum is 18 degrees Celsius / 65 degrees Farenheit and minimum 9 degrees Celsius / 48 degrees Farenheit. The weather is usually sunny and pleasant with the occasional rainy day.
