Q&A
The AAMAS-06 organisers are delighted to announce a student scholarship scheme. The purpose of this scheme is to provide financial support for students with accepted papers at AAMAS-06, to enable them to travel to the conference. The message describes who is eligible for support and how to apply.
Am I eligible for support?
To be eligible for the scheme you must:
- be registered as a full-time student at a higher education institute (eg a University);
- be explicitly listed as an author of a full accepted paper at AAMAS.
At this point we plan to support authors of main conference papers. Though unlikely, if funds permit, we might support workshop authors.
We particuarly encourage student scholarship applications from underrepresented regions.
I am an author, but not a student - Can I get travel support?
No - sorry. We have limited funds, and students are our highest funding priority.
I meet the eligibility criteria - How do I apply?
You need to do two things:
- Send the scholarship chair (see below) an email with the following information:
- Your name
- The tracking number of the paper(s) that you are an author of
- Your full contact details (email, postal address, fax, phone)
- The qualification for which you are registered (eg BSc, MSc, PhD)
- The name of the department & institute at which you are registered
- Brief (one paragraph) statement of the work you are doing (e.g., your area of PhD research)
- Brief (one paragraph) statement of why you need these funds.
- Get your supervisor/thesis advisor to send a letter or a fax to the scholarship chair, certifying that you are indeed registered as a full time student. The letter should be signed by your supervisor/thesis advisor, and carry the stamp of your institute. This letter must also be received by **20 FEBRUARY 2006**.
What happens after that?
We will contact all applicants to let them know the outcome as soon as possible. (It would be helpful if you did *not* send any emails asking about the state of your application, as this just clogs up email in trays and slows the process down!). **If an award is made, the final reimbursement request should bear the signature of this advisor**.
Who is funded and for what amount?
We will first check eligibility. We anticipate different levels of funding based on geographic location (distance to conference venue, underrepresented regions), level of participation, etc..
In case of limited funding, funding amounts will vary based on the following: number of papers authored, if first/sole author of paper, long/short paper, workshop paper(s).
At this point we plan to support authors of main conference papers. Though unlikely, if funds permit, we might support workshop authors.
